The PIDP team was saddened to learn the news that our friend and colleague Leanne Kaʻiulani Ferrer has passed away. Leanne was the Executive Director of Pacific Islanders in Communications, an organization dedicated to advancing Pacific media content and talent to promote a deeper understanding of the region.
Rest in aloha, Leanne. Condolences and love to her beloved family and multitude of friends and colleagues. A bright light in the world, she empowered, inspired, and elevated our voices and our stories. We are blessed that she is part of our stories and her spirit remains through all those she touched.

Dear PIC friends and ‘ohana,
It is with profound sadness and a heavy heart that we share the sad news that our much loved Leanne Ferrer, Executive Director of Pacific Islanders in Communications (PIC), passed away late last night. Words cannot sufficiently describe what she meant to all of us as a tireless leader, advocate, friend and family member. She’s touched innumerous lives in immeasurable ways as she’s supported and contributed to the independent filmmaking world and in day to day life.
We have lost a truly caring and generous soul. Please join us in sending prayers and positive energy to her family as they go through this trying time.
