Geographic isolation and resource limitations have forced islanders to innovate and develop creative solutions for millennia. Now, in the wake of COVID-19, islanders are once again drawing from local knowledge and islands values. This session will discuss the opportunities for technology to help transform island communities, and the ability to navigate across the intersection of development, technology, access, and accountability.

The Local2030 Virtual Platform connects island communities in the Pacific, Indian Ocean, and Caribbean and colleagues working on sustainable development in a world changed by COVID-19.

Local2030 is the world’s first global island-led network devoted to advancing the UN Sustainable Development Goals through locally-driven, culturally-informed solutions. PIDP is proud to be a partner and member of the Local2030 Islands Network.
