We at PIDP believe that the true strength of the Pacific lies in our diversity. Our institution was established 40 years ago to celebrate and cherish our differences, while sowing unity across our blue continent.

Today, we stand united with our Black brothers and sisters as we rise to challenge and change systemic injustice in its many forms.

We want to live in a world where it’s safe to go for a jog, interact with the criminal justice system, or watch birds—regardless of your race or the way you look.

We are determined to do the hard work to uproot racism however it manifests—be it ignorance, apathy, denial, or hate. To be silent at this time is to be complicit. We refuse to be complicit.

Together, we must create a “new normal” in which the legacy of bigotry and unequal treatment no longer infects our institutions or our hearts.
