PACIFIC ISLANDS REPORT Pacific Islands Development Program/East-West Center About Us Pacific Islands Report is a nonprofit news publication of the Pacific Islands Development Program at the East-West Center in Honolulu. Offered as a free service to readers around the world, PIR provides an edited digest of news, commentary and analysis from across the Pacific region, Monday through Friday. The purpose of Pacific Islands Report is to provide a regional look at news across the Pacific and to facilitate communication among developing Pacific nations. The service is underwritten by the East-West Center and from generous contributions from Marriott Hotels & Resorts and the Center for Pacific Islands Studies at the University of Hawaii at Manoa. While Pacific Islands Report does some of its own reporting, it relies to a great extent on the cooperation of regional news organizations that allow PIR to access their latest content for the benefit of our readers. All stories posted in Pacific Islands Reports are reprinted with the permission of contributing partners and remain the property of copyright holders. Any third party wishing to publish or reprint this material, or substantial parts of it, must first seek permission from the copyright holder.
