ROC-Funded Infrastructure Projects Inaugurated On Palau
President thanks Taiwan for aid in road projects

KOROR, Palau (Island Times, Jan. 8, 2013) – President Johnson Toribiong and Republic of China (ROC) Ambassador Maggie Tien last week led the inauguration of several projects in Palau funded by the ROC Stimulus Funding for Fiscal year 2012.

On Thursday, ribbon-cutting ceremonies were held for the completed Aimeliik Road Paving Project Phase II, Ngardmau Road Paving Project (Ulimang), and Ngiwal Road Rehabilitation Project Phase I.

After the events in Babeldaob, the Koror Rehabilitation Projects were inaugurated Friday which include the Ngermid Road Rehabilitation Project Phase II, T-Dock Road Rehabilitation Project Final Phase, WCTC-Yano Road Rehabilitation Project, Ngerbeched Road Rehabilitation Project Phase I (PRA to Abai), Malakal Road (Socio to Quarry) Rehabilitation Project Phase I, and Malakal Port Road Project.

Joining the president and the ambassador in the series of ribbon-cutting ceremonies were MPIIC Minister Jackson Ngiraingas, Minister of State Victor Yano, Vice President Kerai Mariur, Minister of Justice Johnny Gibbons, CIP Manager Brian Melairei, Koror Governor Yositaka Adachi, and Koror Legislature Speaker Eyos Rudimch.

In his speech, President Toribiong thanked the ROC government for its continuing support to Palau through the stimulus fund.

"I thank the ROC government for their generous contribution for the development of the road system in Palau, which is an important foundation for economic development and self-sufficiency," the president said.
