Vanuatu Chiefs Call For An End To Violent Incidents
WELLINGTON, New Zealand (Radio New Zealand International, Dec. 31, 2012) – Despite calls by the Vaturisu Council of Chiefs of Efate Island in Vanuatu for the counterparts from Tanna to control their people there has been more violence.
Police say two young men from Pentecost Island have been hospitalized after they were attacked by a group of men from Tanna.
The father of the victims who is a Pentecost paramount chief, Telkon Watas, says the men from Tanna started fighting after they had sought alcoholic drinks from Pentecost Islanders’ home.
They inflicted serious injuries on the men using an iron bar.
