PALAU VOTERS REJECT CASINO GAMBLING
Referendum defeated by 3-to-1 margin

HAGATNA, Guam (Marianas Business Journal, June 27, 2011) – Palauan voters rejected the proposed establishment of casino gaming in Palau during the June 22 referendum.

The question "Do you approve of the establishment of casino gaming in the Republic of Palau?" received 3,349 "no" votes and 1,085 "yes" votes, barring any future plan to present the proposal in the country.

The Palau Election Commission went ahead with the referendum following the Palau Supreme Court’s decision to dismiss a motion to stop the exercise.
