TUVALU ACCEPTED AS MEMBER OF ATHLETICS BODY
Becomes 213^th member in organization

WELLINGTON, New Zealand (Radio New Zealand International, May 7, 2008) – The International Amateur Athletics Federation (IAAF) welcomed Tuvalu as a member bringing the numbers to 213.

[PIR editor’s note: The IAAF, headquartered in Monaco, is the governing body for athletic events in track and field.]

The IAAF Council has provisionally granted membership to Tuvalu Athletics Association with full rights and obligations.

Tuvalu’s affiliation however, must be confirmed by Special Majority at the next IAAF Congress in Berlin Germany in August 2009.
