TAIWAN RELEASES $1.4 MILLION FOR SOLOMONS PROJECTS
Goal to promote rural development

WELLINGTON, New Zealand (Radio New Zealand International, April 22, 2008) –Taiwan’s Ambassador in Honiara has urged Solomon Islands MPs and Constituency Committees to ensure development funds are used in a transparent and accountable manner.

George Chan made the statement while releasing the second payment of $1.4 million US dollars towards the 2008 Constituency and Rural Development Fund to the Solomon’s government.

Ambassador Chan says the fund, linked to the Constituency and Rural Development Project, aims at enhancing socio-economic development for rural communities and families.

Ambassador Chan believes the project will enhance revitalisation of rural production and the national economy.
