UNDERWOOD NAMED UNIVERSITY OF GUAM PRESIDENT
The former Congressman was unanimous selection

SAIPAN, CNMI (Mariana Variety, April 17, 2008) - Robert Underwood was chosen as UOG’s 10th president during yesterday’s board of regents meeting.

Underwood was unanimously voted in by the board, UOG spokesperson Cathleen-Moore Linn said.

She added that the board will now begin the contract negotiation.

Underwood was chosen over two other candidates, UOG’s interim president Dr. Helen Whippy and University of Hawai΄i professor Dr. Christopher D. Lu.

Underwood teaches at UOG where is a professor emeritus. He served as UOG’s academic vice president from 1990 to 1992 and served five terms in Congress as Guam’s delegate from 1993 to 2003.

He received his doctoral degree of education from the University of Southern California in 1987 in Policy, Planning and Administration.
