East-West Center graduate degree students are involved with the Pacific Islands Development Program (PIDP) through the East-West
Center's Education Program. PIDP serves as a focal point for students at the East-West Center and the University of Hawai‘i from the Pacific islands region. Students are free to participate in various aspects of PIDP and have done so as their time and studies allow.

Fellows, Professional Associates, and Research Interns
In cooperation with the relevant programs at the East-West Center, PIDP invites, as fellows, certain outstanding scholars and professionals with backgrounds in Pacific islands research, education, government, and development to participate in
PIDP projects. As with fellows, PIDP also supports professional associates and research interns. The support provided may take many forms and is generally designed according to the relevance of the individual's interest and background to PIDP programs and projects.
