Steven Winduo is a scholar, teacher and one of Papua New Guinea’s foremost creative writers. Born in Ulighembi village in East Sepik province, he has published numerous poems, short stories and essays.
He is the author of two books of poetry, Lomo`ha I Am, in Spirit’s Voice I Call (Institute of Pacific Studies, University of the South Pacific,1991) and Hembemba: Rivers of the Forest (Institute of Pacific Studies, 2000), and the founding editor of Savanna Flames: A Papua New Guinea Journal of Literature, Language, and Culture. Steven Winduo lectures in literature at the University of Papua New Guinea, and is the Director of Melanesian and Pacific Studies in the School of Humanities and Social Sciences. |
